Who knew a little yellow bird could change my path. Not me, that’s who.
It was 7 am on a Thursday.
As we walked our Lights Out Northeast Florida survey route in downtown Jacksonville, my partner and I found what we were looking for but always hope to avoid: a bird that had collided with glass. The little yellow warbler, weighing less than an ounce, sat stunned and vulnerable on the sidewalk. People hurried past, either looking away or not noticing the small bird that needed help.
In that moment, I felt a real disconnect.
I started this business to help restore the connection between people and nature. I believe we can all thrive when our minds, bodies, and ecosystems are healthy. Our communities and well-being depend on creative, compassionate, and collaborative care for the world around us.
My background includes corporate media and instructional design, a master's degree in biology focused on conservation and sustainability, leadership on projects such as Lights Out Northeast Florida, and a 200-hour yoga certification. I’m weaving together all this experience to inspire wellness for people and all the other species with whom we share this planet.
By the way, we caught the little bird and released her in a local park, where she quickly flew up into a giant oak tree and, I like to think, lived happily ever after.
